Burn Dressing and Burn Blanket gel is a proprietary gel consisting of over 96% water and a small percentage of Melaleuca oil. Melaleuca oil is a proven antiseptic with local anaesthetic and anti-inflammatory properties. The Burn Blanket and Burn Blanket wraps consist of 3 mm thick Burn Blanket and Burn Blanket gel-impregnated pads. When placed over the burn, a 3-6 mm layer of gel forms on the skin. The cooling properties of the dressing help to stop the progression of the burn and minimise tissue damage. Furthermore, because it is 96% water, the dressing rehydrates the burn and is sterile as well as anti-microbial, helping to prevent infections.
